A price to be paid P2

The early Christians suffered that the truth might be spread.

Acts 16:19-24

When the owners of the slave girl realized that their hope of making money was gone, they seized Paul and Silas and dragged them into the marketplace to face the authorities. They brought them before the magistrates and said, “These men are Jews, and are throwing our city into an uproar by advocating customs unlawful for us Romans to accept or practice.” The crowd joined in the attack against Paul and Silas, and the magistrates ordered them to be stripped and beaten. After they had been severely flogged, they were thrown into prison, and the jailer was commanded to guard them carefully. Upon receiving such orders, he put them in the inner cell and fastened their feet in the stocks.

John was banished to Patmos that he might write Revelation.

Revelation 1:1

The revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave him to show his servants what must soon take place. He made it known by sending his angel to his servant John,

Revelation 1:9

I, John, your brother and companion in the suffering and kingdom and patient endurance that are ours in Jesus, was on the island of Patmos because of the word of God and the testimony of Jesus.

Christ suffered for our sins that He might bring us to God.

1Peter 2:21

To this you were called, because Christ suffered for you, leaving you an example, that you should follow in his steps.

1Peter 4:1

Therefore, since Christ suffered in his body, arm yourselves also with the same attitude, because he who has suffered in his body is done with sin.

1Peter 5:10

And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast.

There is mental and physicial suffering and none of us look forward to having it and when we do we try to find some way to ease or get rid of it.

When we suffer for Christ it is a different story we should have joy to know we are worthy of receiving it. Bearing the Cross is NOT wearing it on a chain around your neck.

We are only aliens here and only passing through, we need not get so enamored with the world we can not see the worth of suffering for Christ. It could be from being scoffed at, to the point of death. Either way we will glory when we reach our eternal home with Christ for eternity.

Brothers and sisters never be afraid of what the price may be because you can never out give or out do God. Do in the name of Jesus and never do looking for a reward. Do because He first loved you.
